Terrie Romines - CSF has been busy doing community service. In September, they donated $1 per member to buy popcorn for the troops from a local Boy Scout pack. Last Sunday 10/11 a group of members went to Hueneme Beach to pick up trash for 2 hours. They produced 10 full lawn bags full of debris

Peer Resource – Jenna Bernard This event is a lot of fun and encouraging watching how hard these kids work to become Student Leaders! We also blow off a lot of steam on the confidence building Ropes Course on Wednesday.... you can get paid to climb a tree! The Migrant parent meetings are usually on the second Thursday of the Month. The next meeting is scheduled for November 12, at 6:30 in the Library. Our guest speaker then will be Juan Matus, Mexican Consulate. Please feel free to join us, everyone is welcome.
Words of Wisdom The first quote is from the Holocaust Museum in Washington, D.C., and it states: “Thou shalt not be a victim. Thou shalt not be a perpetrator. Above all, thou shalt not be a bystander.” It’s easy to understand why we wouldn’t want to be a victim; and we know why we shouldn’t be the aggressor or the perpetrator of any heinous crimes…. But why is it “above all” that we shouldn’t be a bystander – a person observing what’s wrong and allowing it to continue? Think about the Holocaust and what occurred because very few (almost no one) was willing to take a stand against what was wrong. When we allow things to occur through silence, are we any different than the perpetrator?? Something to think about.
Athletics – Manny Lara This Friday will a great night to be part of this community. We are expecting a big crowd representing both schools. (Let's not let the Yellow jacket staff outnumber us; many of OHS teachers and staff will be there!). CIHS staff and their friends and family are invited to sit adjacent to the Press box on the scoreboard side. If you want to make an announcement about a school or community program that you are involved in, write something up and we will read over the PA. |
