To establish a Channel Islands High School Heritage Committee, whose work will focus on celebrating the successes of our past and our present. It is my desire to bring back the banners celebrating the athletic, academic and performing arts achievements of our former Raiders from the first day this school opened to today. We will be appealing to the students, the parents, the staff, the alumni, and the community as we join together to raise whatever funds are necessary to recognize and celebrate through banners and trophies, as well as Alumni Recognition events, the many varied successes of our Raider students, teams, and alumni.

I believe that we cannot sincerely ask our students to do their best, achieve their best, when we do not consistently recognize the best of our past, our heritage. It is not good enough to just celebrate our most recent achievements – the study of the past guides us in our quest to create a better future.

Our students need to know the history of Channel Islands High School and they need to know that we will ALWAYS care about, celebrate and recognize their successes here at the Islands.  I believe by promoting this celebratory attitude and culture, we will create and foster success in all areas – academics, athletics, and the arts.

Plan for Success:

• Letters to businesses within our community
• Letters to prominent alumni
• Newspaper article(s)
• Work through our Booster Club, PFO, and other various parental groups
• Involve the current students
• Tie in with current and future athletic events and activities
• Working with our Alumni organizations
