Academic Enrichment Classes Tour CSUCI (John Grennan) CI’s Academic Enrichment 3 and 4 students visited the other Islands – Cal State University, Channel Islands – on Wednesday, Nov. 19, and had a fun and informative day in Camarillo. The campus tour guide turned out to be Jenny Mota, a 2007 CI graduate who is now majoring in business at CSUCI. Imelda Fernandez, CI class of 2001, is now a counselor at CSUCI, and she presented the campus overview. Imelda is a Humboldt State graduate, and she said that Terrie Romines inspired her to go there. Highlights of the tour included visits to the new library, new dorms and the upgraded cafeteria. We also saw several other CIHS alumni on campus, including 2008 graduates Danielle Zymbroy and Jennifer Figueroa and 2006 graduate Lupe Ayala. The same CI students visited UC Santa Barbara in October. Chris Gillian’s Academic Enrichment 4 students are completing their college applications this month, and many of them were impressed by the two campuses. | | | | | Jenny Mota, CI class of 2007, prepares to lead the current Raiders on a campus tour | Vicky Vasquez and Lorena Valdez, juniors, and Randy Baez, senior, head in to CSUCI's new library. | CI juniors Jairo Camarena, Jorge Ambriz and Luis Acosta take in the beauty of the CSUCI campus. |
