Welcome to Channel Islands High School
Athletics - Kudos
I too would like to publicly praise our educator coaches – Coach Hinckley, Coach Moore, Coach Zielsdorf, Coach Rada, Coach Prum, Coach Hall, Coach Hernandez, Coach Jones, Coach Hill, Coach Haynes, Coach Lara, Coach Salazar, Coach Marin, Coach Michel Lara, and Coach Estrada – for all of their hard work and support of our student athletes this spring season.  It was a season to be proud of – a season of personal bests and new triumphs!!  By being a leader and mentor among our students  both in and out of the classroom, you help to improve the climate and culture of this campus to one of sustainability, ownership and pride.  We may not be league or CIF champions  - yet every “kill”, every ace, every birdie, every second shaved off, every runner batted in, and every new personal and/or team victory – makes champions of our school, our staff, and our students!!!  Pride yourselves in the growth you see among your players – pride yourselves in the knowledge that our victories come with honor, hard work, and integrity, and pride yourselves for making a difference in the lives of our student athletes.  Championships on paper and banners are within our reach – your efforts and dedication will get us there!!  Go Raiders!!! With humble gratitude,

Bijou S. Beltran

National Day of Prayer
Today is the National Day of Prayer and in the same way that other great men and women throughout history have petitioned for help, we will continue.

In 1774, Thomas Jefferson proposed a Day of Prayer when the British blockaded Boston's Harbor: "This House ... from the hostile invasion of the city of Boston ... deem it highly necessary that the first day of June be ... a Day of Fasting, Humiliation and Prayer, devoutly to implore the Divine interposition."

Ben Franklin stated during the 1787 Constitutional Convention: "In the beginning of the Contest with Great Britain, when we were sensible of danger, we had daily prayer in this room for Divine protection."

President Zachary Taylor declared a Day of Prayer during a cholera epidemic, July 3, 1849, stating: "A fearful pestilence ... is spreading itself throughout the land. ... It is ... recommended ... a day of fasting, humiliation and prayer ... to abstain ... from secular occupations ... to implore the Almighty in His own good time to stay the destroying hand."

All are invited to prayer for our faculty and students, communities and nation today in the quad in front of the stage during nutrition (following RAP).

Sincerely,
Chris Neos
